260 trained on ‘Anemia Mukt Bharat’ in Peren

Peren, June 29 (MExN): The District Health Society, Peren organised Block Level Orientation training on Anemia Mukt Bharat for Government Teachers, Nurses and Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) under Peren district from June 24 to 29 in Tening, Ahthibung, Jalukie and Peren block respectively. Altogether 260 participants from all the four blocks of the district participated in the training.

The resource persons were Dr Keholi Asumi, DPO (RCH&UIP), Dr Imtiakum Aier, SMO, Jalukie CHC, Dr Paokhotinlen Singson, MO, Poilwa PHC and Dr Vekholu Khamo, MO (AYUSH) Ahthibung PHC.

The district media officer in a press release said that the resource persons sensitised the trainees on the prevalence of anemia in the state and its public health implication such as reduce in physical development, reduced cognitive development and its impact on the economy. They highlighted strategies to combat anemia, the ill effect of iron deficiency which could lead to anemia which affects cognition power in children and result in still births and maternal deaths during pregnancy.

The government teachers were encouraged to watch for signs and symptoms of anemia among school students and emphasised on the importance of taking iron folic acid tablets in order to prevent the disease.

The trainees were also made to understand that the aim of the training was to reduce prevalence of anemia in the district by imparting proper knowledge to the health workers and teachers.

The training was attended by the government teachers, nurses and ASHAs.
