Nagaland registered 33 fresh COVID-19 cases on Monday taking the State's total infections by the virus above 1000-mark to 1021.


“Out of 454 samples tested, 33 positive cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed,” Health and Family Minister, S Pangnyu updated on Twitter in the morning.


The new cases include 16 in Dimapur, 12 in Mon and 5 in Kohima, the Minister added.


With this, the COVID-19 status in Nagaland as of 11:30 AM, July 19 stood at: Positive: 1021, Active: 576, and Recovered: 445.


The number of cases have been showing a considerable spike during the month of July.


For instance, while it took nearly 37 days to reach 50O-mark from 3 cases on May 25 to 501 on July 1, it took just 19 days to cross that mark. The cases since July 1 have increased by 520 to reach 1021 on July 20.
