72 hours total lockdown under Chozuba Town Council

Kohima, May 31 (MExN): In view of a surge of COVID-19 positive cases in Chozuba town under Phek district during the last week up till date, the Chozuba Additional Deputy Commissioner Theodore Yanthan today ordered for total lockdown under Chozuba Town Council jurisdiction for 72 Hours wef 12:00 hours of June 1 to 12:00 hours of June 4, 2021.

Yanthan, who is also chairman of Block Task Force for COVID-19 Chozuba stated that such order have been issued in the interest of public health and safety to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Chozuba and also to carry out extensive contact tracing and break the chain of transmission of COVID-19.

All activities and movement of individuals/person will be suspended during the lock down period except the following activities. i. Inter-district movement of vehicles, including those carrying medical supplies / oxygen cylinders and other medical equipment, essential commodities passing through Chozuba town. ii. Road construction companies passing through Chozuba town. However, all other construction activities are to remain suspended within the Town jurisdiction during the lockdown period. All health care facilities, pharmacies, movement of health care workers.

The order stated that The CHC, Chozuba shall not be entertaining minor OPD cases except pregnancies, delivery cases and other medical emergencies. However, COVID-19 vaccination of 18+ years and COVID-19 testing shall remain open.

All commercial establishments are to remain closed. Shop owners/salesmen of essential commodities to undergo mandatory testing.

Agriculture and allied activities will be allowed. However, the farmers are informed to stay in their respective fields in advance before the lock down starts.

All other government offices shall remain closed and the Core Groups are advised to work from home.
PHED, Electrical, Press Media and ISPS are exempted.

All Banks to remain closed during the period. Petrol pumps and other fuel outlets shall remain closed during the 72 Hours lock down period. All places of mass gathering are barred except for funerals with a ceiling of 20 persons.

Administration, Police, Medical, Armed forces/Paramilitary are exempted from the purview of this lockdown.

Any person or group acting in violation of this order shall be deemed to have committed an offense punishable under Section 188 of the IPC and relevant provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, the order stated.
