Kohima, May 9 (MExN): The parent-teacher committee of Baptist College, Kohima and Sechü held annual parent-teacher meeting at Kohima campus on May 6. Introductory note was given by Dr.Tsenbeni, Convenor PTC & HoD, English.

Dr Tsenbeni stated that the purpose of the meeting is to strengthen communication and understanding between parents and the institution. She invited attention to the equal role that all stakeholders need to play in the academic journey of every student.

Interim principal, Dr Kewepfuzu Lohe, elaborated on the vision of the College, which focuses on moral growth of students, thereby producing responsible individuals and good citizens.

Dr Lohe also commented on the importance of recognising student’s innate talent and also stating the important role that family plays in determining the quality of a student's attitude and approach to life.

In the meeting, parents and guardians shared their concerns, in which they also urged the college to provide career guidance programmes, set provisions for internships, computer courses and smart classrooms.

The members were apprised of MoUs signed with Maverick Academy and Mahindra Education for providing professional career guidance. The college has also signed an MoU with MicroWorld and provides basic computer course to students.

The Chaplain, Baptist College, Tamreimung Chusi, expressed concern for students who struggle with mental and emotional baggage. He stated that parental support is required without which they cannot be expected to excel academically or in other areas.

Highlighting the details of the mentoring program of the college, Dr Tsenbeni pointed out that students are assisted and supported to face their academic challenges as well as challenges related to other issues. The meeting concluded with Dr Seyiesilie Vüprü, member PTC urging the parents and guardians to be inquisitive of their children so that they may be provoked into seriously thinking about their future.
