Bury differences and come together, Naga Hoho appeals

Dimapur, August 19 (MExN): The Naga Hoho (NH) on August 19 appealed to all the tribal bodies and Naga Political Groups (NPGs) to bury differences and “come together to achieve our common goal.”

Referring to the XV General Assembly resolution of the Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization (UNPO), the NH pointed out that while the international community continues to support and extend solidarity to the Naga people, “We cannot afford to live in a divided house.”

It extended sincere gratitude and appreciation to the UNPO for taking full cognizance, supporting and acknowledging the Indo-Naga Peace Process.

“Unity is strength and no forces on earth can stop the undying spirit of one Naga,” the NH stated as it appealed for unity from various tribal bodies and NPGs.

On meeting with Union Minister

Meanwhile, in a separate statement, the Naga Hoho also extended its  appreciation to Prime Minister  Narendra Modi and Union Minister Jitendra Singh for giving their time in order “to carry forward the Peace Process.”

Earlier, a nine-member delegation of the NH had responded to the invitation of the Prime Minister of India’s Office and met Minister of State for the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region Jitendra Singh on August 12.

The NH informed that the delegation reiterated its demand from the Government of India to clarify on the Ceasefire area coverage.

They also impressed on the Minister for an early solution to the Indo-Naga political Issue. It said that the inking of the final agreement has been kept “in a cold storage” which was further creating more confusion and divisions amongst various sections of the Naga people.

While appreciating the contributions of RN Ravi as the Interlocutor of the Peace Talks, the delegation also reminded the PMO to seriously review the role of the Interlocutor, citing “more damage” and creation of “trust deficit” “within the Naga people and the negotiator.

The NH stated that “RN Ravi cannot play a dual role as both Governor (Constitutional head) and Interlocutor in the Negotiation and enforce law and order in the Peace Process.”

It further stressed that the Peace Talk be carried forward to its logical conclusion “with mutual respect and understanding as two entities.”
