DCCI urges shops & customers to take COVID-19 precautions

DIMAPUR, JANUARY 14 (MExN): The Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) has reminded all shops and business houses within its jurisdiction to once again adopt strict COVID-19 protocols.

It directed all shopkeepers and salespersons to compulsory wear masks inside the shops and also to keep hand sanitizers on the counters or outside the shop.

While extending New Year greetings to the people of Dimapur, the DCCI said “it is a matter of great concern that the rate of COVID-19 positive cases in Dimapur has shown steady rise in the past few days, which requires collective effort to ensure the situation does not spiral out of control.”

A press release from the DCCI Vice President, V Shikuto Sema further requested the general public and customers to adhere to COVID-19 appropriate behaviors like wearing masks and maintaining social distance in the streets and inside shops.

It also requested various unions, organisations or individuals not to undertake any kind of fund-drive from the businesses community, whether it be selling calendars, souvenirs or other form of donation, as such forms of activities will not be entertained.

Meanwhile, the DCCI appealed to Naga national political groups to desist from random checking and raids of godowns and shops on the pretext of searching for expired goods or checking if items are sold at MRP.

“As clarified on earlier occasions also, there are certain norms and procedures in regard to expired or damaged goods and items. The traders and shopkeepers have to store expired or damaged goods in godowns in order to get refund for such goods from companies. After due process, these goods are either returned to the respective company or destroyed later,” the DCCI informed.

It assured that the association would take punitive action against any trader or shopkeeper selling expired or damaged goods in their shop.
