DMC informs on prevention of cruelty to animals

DIMAPUR, APRIL 21 (MExN): The Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) has informed that it is keeping a strict vigil on any persons dealing in any inhumane manner to animals as endorsed by the State Animal Welfare Advisory Board Nagaland (SAWAB-N) and society for prevention of cruelty to Animals (SPCA). 

A press release from the DMC said that people found indulging in such activity will be prosecuted under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960. 

The Act protects all animals whether domestic or wild, which requires them to be treated in a humane way during transportation, rearing or even during slaughter for meat purpose. 

As such beating, kicking, overloading, torturing, causing unnecessary pain or suffering to any animal, conveying or carrying either in or upon any vehicle in such a manner as to subject it to unnecessary pain or suffering is strictly prohibited, the DMC informed.
