Do you care for the future of the Naga people?

Some of those who voted  yes had this to say:
•    I do care for the Naga future, but no one seems to hear my voice. Unless my voice is heard, how can I make any difference. It is time that the rich and powerful people of Nagaland listen to the voices of the common poor Naga.
•    Yes!!! We live a life of dreams, some come true, some die; but never cry when our dreams fail: Pick up a new future of our dreams, trust ourself…believe in God, N Keep our faith Strong!!!
•    Should we not ache in pain, be concerned, and be in prayer for a culture that has lost all sense of biblically taught values, moral virtues and the fear of the Lord? Somewhere down the road we have been misled, misinformed and has been led astray. Is there any area of Naga life that is not corroded, polluted and marred by sin's corrupting influence? Listening to the music of our youth reveals a youth culture that is disillusioned. Looking at the condition of our churches reveals a deep lack of spiritual discernment and leadership. Yet, amidst these, there is hope for the Nagas if we will humble ourselves before the Lord, repent and walk in obedience to Christ. Yes, I care for the future of the Nagas. I do pray that one day, we will see restoration, genuine renewal and a return to God. Only then, will we begin to see his blessings.
•    Nagas are divided by Indians and Britishers. We need to get back as a Nation.
•    Even if i don't belong to naga tribe, i support the motion because every indigenous community of the world has their own rights and obligation to govern/administer their land and property...
•    Yes, I do care for the future of the Naga people. No matter how ugly and frustrating the situation in Nagaland is, this is my people and my home. Where do I go? If I dont care about my own people who will care for them. I am also part of it. I rather be part of the solution than part of the problem. The Naga people are my future, I have no way to go.
•    If we maintains own personal integrity we care for the future of the Naga people.
•    "Phoney War" is ON' here in NAGAland within the Nagas- because we have given our land "NAGAland for Christ" but not us (the individual) The Lord needs the people not the land (which of course is His). If we don't change our mindset within a decade of time, the Biggest Civil War we'll encounter here in the so called "Nagaland For Christ State." God Be Merciful for the elected few, God Bless
•    Because we have a long cherished vision 2. We can make a difference and impact our neighbours 3. God loves Nagas
•    Cos 3% of nagas living in Kohima and Dimapur are destroying the future generation of our great kingdom through their corrupt practice & lies. I feel sorry for those living in the interior parts of Nagaland, who hardly get a square meal per day while the urban tribes feel below their dignity to even walk from PR Hill to TCP Gate. These are the artificial Nagas.
•    YES!! Of course.  We do. But does our elders DO?
•    Yes, I care for the future of the Naga people and I am living for it today.
•    Yes, I very much care. But, seeing the interest shown by our seniors, one is left with a bad impression that our future will be bleak, hopeless, famine and war-logged.
•    Ask this to our politicians, Bureaucrats, and law makers of our land. Have they done anything for their children? Are they going to leave behind a legacy of corruption, hatred, wars, factions, scams and frauds. What will the coming naga children cherish of this era? They will remember us a only Self minded, corrupted, 'ism' oriented, robbers, thieves, rapist, drug addicts...etc etc. All that makes a nation great in the baddest list. Ya..Nagaland be great. Amen!
•    Yes, but now a days Naga youths are ashamed of what they do and that’s the reasons why Nagas cant move forward.
•    Because we are the people chosen by GOD.
•    Why not we shud be moving ahead with others! Why do we remain backward for our whole life!!
•    for good or for bad I was born as a NAGA n I intend to live life to the fullest coz life is just a journey and we are just passing by.
•    Certainly yes because even if I am away from this world, my descendants will continue till He comes. So why not? What about you?

Some of those who voted no had this to say:
•    Why should I care? The politicians are busy building their own kingdoms, the bureaucrats are quietly building their fortune and dont care for the public, the businessman is trying very hard to bribe the powerful people at the expense of the common man, and the so called Naga freedom fighter are too busy building their own castles. They seem to be fighting for their own cause, rather than the Naga cause. So when no one seems to care for the Naga people's future, why should I care? I am barely making it every day. I dont have the luxury to care, when I myself is crawling. The Nagas are doomed at the rate things have going. God have mercy on us.
•    No..dont care for the corrupt govt officials, dishonest NGO leaders, hypocrite church leaders, extortionist murderous so called national worker. Its becoz of them our future is not secure. This group abov in tryng 2 mak their future are compromising n disheartening d future of others. When our leaders dont care about our future, we have No future.
•    The present situation is too distressing to even care about. The common people’s voice is not heard at all. Neither the overground or underground leaders even bother to actually listen to what the common people say. All the blame cannot be put on the underground leaders, because the overground leaders are no better. Its time that something is done about it.

Some of those who voted OTHERS had this to say:
•    Its really difficult not to care for the future. But at the same time looking at the present state of affairs, it is very discouraging. There are just no leaders or even Naga role models who you can look up to. There is not one honest Naga man or woman who is willing to stand up and speak the truth. Naga society has become very fearful. So even if I do care for the Naga future, that alone is not going to make any difference. Action is required. But what if I am alone. If there is no one else willing to do something about the Naga future. Its a very scary thought, and in Nagaland anything is possible.
•    Wouldn’t it be more appropriate to ask “Do I REALLY” care for the future of Naga people? Looking at the past and present situation we certainly do have a future to care for; better late than never.
•    Do these MLAs, Ministers and Big shots know anything about what will be in the next 25 years? When they retire n live off their last years of their lives, will they nor recall back the times when they cud have brought some positive outcomes for the younger Nags rather then  rummaging all they cud lay their hands on since they have the power now. If only they will think far and act now, will we not feel remorse of our past transgressions.
•    hehe good morning buddy u shold ask tat question to some ministers haha do they care when election comes haha giving money to public and giving beer rum etc in election time haha all nagas care is for money yup i am 100% right well if ur a minister too u will put some money in ur pocket right hahaha instead of using tat money for devolopmen hehe wot ever hmmmm good question u must ask tat question to chief minister of nagaland and ministers ok not to ta public right u need to get some more punch in ur question buddy if u care for ta pple of nagaland i am saking u first ban all ta illigal bar k then everything gonna be just fine drinking beer ah nagas fevourate well it destroy lots of nagas youth young boys and girls u can see them in ta bar disco etc haha dhobinala drinking dirty water drinks and destroying their own life go on take a look around u and ask ur self too do they care for the future of the nagas pple?
•    Why wont our leaders of today care 4 the next Gen? Aren’t their own children who will face the consequences of today’s mistakes. All the developments meant 4 this Generation is being utilised by these mongrels. So I’m sure that the present lot of leaders ought to revamp their policies n think good 4 their children.
•    What a Question!!! Don't you have better things to ask???  Why don't you ask the Politicians, the Bureaucrats, the undergrounds leaders, the hopelessly corrupted devils!!  Why ask me!! Even If I do care for the future of the Naga people, there is not much I can do of great consequence. People like you, Journalists, will do a great deal of service to the Nagas if you have the courage to ask such questions to the right people. NOT TO ME!!!
•    Fighting among ourselves in the name of freedom, motherland since the past 5 decades have left nothing good for these Generation. The next few decades will see no good either. It is the present lots who can help the Nagas to go 4ward.Please do things in the fear of our Creator, n not just for ur stomach.
•    I do care but does it even matter? I hope it matters, there’s so few who cares. WE all want a better future and almost everyone will say that they care for the future of the Naga people. But the question is do we really care? Do our actions tally with what we say? WE all want Nagaland to be free from corruption, free from factional killings, free from all negative isms and blah blah blahs. But have we done about it? NOTHING. We, the youth are the future and I don’t see anything good in the crystal ball. We are as corrupt, as crooked, as tainted and as immoral as our parents. We blame the government officials of corruption but we don’t see any wrong in committing fraud to get scholarship (it all starts here). We call politicians dirty and politics a dirty game, but come election and we all sell our votes off for a few hundred bucks. We all hate tribalism and all other negative isms but as long as it is ‘our’ Union we adjust ourselves for ‘our’ Union’s gain. We are selfish people. As long as we benefit WE don’t care about anything else, all we care about is ourselves. We have lost our Naganess, our honesty, our integrity. Do we even care about Independence or integration or reconciliation? I’m sure most of the Naga youths are oblivious of our political happenings. What do we care? What do I get out of it? There’s this prevalent attitude, ‘As long as I gain, I don’t care what becomes of you.’ We are Selfish, I repeat we are SELFISH. Even if we try to Integrate, all we will think about is how we won’t lose an inch and how we will gain an inch. Sovereignty might be out of the question in the context of negotiations with India (harsh truth) but most of us probably fear Independence itself (even harsher truth). We are all COWARDS. How can we get something if we fear it? Ask any youth if they want independence or sovereignty and most will give you a confused look and finally a subdued NO. And if you ask why you will realize it’s because he fears independence. He fears that we are too weak, he fears that we have no place in this world on our own, he fears that we can’t stand on our own. We are so dependent on India now. India did not just take political control over our land. Slowly and steadily they are killing our real independence, the independence of our thoughts, our minds. We’d rather hold on to the crutch rather than stand on our own. And as long as we do nothing about it, as long as we are selfish, as long as we fear and refuse to stand up on our own, it just means we don’t care. The editor of this daily has talked about Referendum (as in Timor and Kosovo who got their independence through a referendum) but I’m beginning to doubt if it will work in our case. What exactly is the will of the people? What do our people really want? Do we care? It’s not late now, but by the time such a thing happens, we might have lost our true independence. And the referendum will only prove me right. What do we care about the FUTURE, when we don’t care about NOW.
•    Any true Naga will care for the future of the Naga people. But today, it is not enough to care. We need real action, we need practical action that will really bring about change. Unfortunately it is the action part that Nagas are lacking behind. Nagas are very weak when it comes to implementation. Nagas really like talking and giving big lectures and speeches, but there are actually only a few people who go ahead and implement their thoughts in practical. Of course there is the fear factor as well. Nagas are generally wary of the underground groups. But it is time, that the Naga people speak their mind without any fear.
•    If only the present day Naga leaders from all their respective fields could sincerely answer this serious poll question as they are now responsible how to build the future and shape the destiny of the state for the coming generation who grows to believe that the better days are ahead. Inspite of its malaise and ailments plaguing the ongoing Naga society, the paradigm shift taking place in many spheres of lives initiated and spearheaded visibly if not singlehandedly by the younger generations gives a lot of reasons to the right thinking Nagas to feel upbeat and be optimistic about the Naga future. Thus, the powers that be at present cant afford to be only selfishly myopic and grossly ignoring their legacy by paying only sugar-coated lip service with banal action and speech full of cliché but ought to be aware of what kind of sees they are sowing today to let their populace and society to reap in the future.
