Do you think the public is also responsible along with the Naga leaders in creating a corrupted society? Give reasons why?

Some of those who voted YES:

•    Yes, absolutely. Each one of us (including me) is responsible for how our society has come to be. The phrase ‘alone we can do little but together we can do much’ is at play here. Many a times it's the leaders (ministers) that start off something immoral or illegal but we also tag along with them in one way or the other - by really tagging along with them or by being silent. We really need to wake up and see what's going around our society and government before it's too late. Because the good is not only for oneself, but for one's own family, for one's generations and for the state at large. Let us all be concerned citizens and do what is right and correct where there is wrong. Heal this land, Lord. God bless my Nagaland.

•    Yes, corruption starts from every level of the pyramid of our society. The root of all corruption is laziness and greed. Let us change, and we will (hopefully) see changes.

•    Yes by voting for the wrong and corrupted leader

•    All time yes. Leaders are appointed by the public. Corrupted public brings corrupted leaders.

•    Big yes. People are corrupted so they choose corrupted Leaders which corrupt the whole society

•    Very much. It needs two hands to clap.

•    Yes. We either remain silent or participate in corruption, in different capacities.

•    Yes because the public voted for money not for leadership.

•    Yes, if the father of our state stood in a corrupted position then it’s possible for his son to follow his footstep.

•    Yes! In it’s entirely, yet the leaders, politicians are at the topmost of it as they are the apex body governing the state! With power comes responsibilities' so they ought to set an example for its people! If one can't handle it' they shouldn't do it! Also' yes, the public are responsible for it as well, mainly the older one's! Politics is all about the so called old people! Young one's need not say a word as they wouldn't pay a heed! Also btw' never had been any history of human mankind or any movie ever made, where society itself brought the change, it's always upto a leader'/ group of leader's

Some of those who voted NO:

•    No, the leaders. Leaders are supposed to lead the public. If the leaders blame the public for the corrupted society, that means we don't have a leader. Our leaders need a leader. Our aspiring political leaders would focus on accumulating thousands and thousands of money to contest in elections instead of focusing on building leadership skills. Money amassing skill by leaders does not help in the overall growth of society.

Some of those who voted OTHERS:

•    We cannot say who has a bigger role to play in corrupting our land. There can't be any fingers standing to point anyone. When it comes to corruption, there are many forms of it. What we understand mostly is the corruption of the government system. But spitting in public spaces is also a form of corruption. Parking as you wish is another form of it. Getting chewing gum instead of coins is a form of corruption. Everyone is corrupted. This is the nature of humans. We are inherently corrupted.

•    Power is endlessly seductive and deceptive in its own way.

•    Leaders come from the peoples, they're their representatives, so it's a no brainer!

•    "The root cause of evil is money". Almost all the public and leaders remain innocent until they see money. The leaders from a humbled or ordinary background will stand "I will do honestly" but who can work without getting his own benefits? After being elected he/ she also becomes corrupted because he has a family/ relatives and community to look after. While a rich guy holding a leadership will never understand the public problems and issues. Whom shall we blame? The government? The leaders? The general public? Because of the narrow mindset of our leaders elected by economically and mentally poor people, from the poor background for the poor people we become equally corrupted. Today, most of the People wanted to hold a leadership position just for self benefit, mostly to make a fortune for him. Competing for leadership is becoming like any other competitive exams. Why? Because it will solve an employment issue. By holding a leadership position he can play a little secret politics and gain a side income for him. This is our present leaders. Our government does not involve much in developing our economy and there are no job opportunities for the Educated Youth. This directly or indirectly contributes to corruption. Our state needs to develop a sustainable economy, and create a platform to earn our daily bread. From the Village Level Organization to Government System everyone is corrupted equally. If we think it deeply for the future of Nagas Society, the dark days are coming near if we continue the same. I think that we cannot just transform the "Corrupt Society" by shouting and protesting just in public. Everything starts from 'Me' and 'You' if we want a better tomorrow. God bless my Nagaland.

•    Everyone is hand and glove- corrupted! The whole mindset of Naga people have to change.

•    There's a difference between head and tail though in a same body.

•    Yes but not all but only some few money minded public leaders

•    Public and leaders both are same level in corruption nothing can change.

•    Just hahaha no words because everyone knows money talks for votes

•    If a leader said, the public is responsible for the corruption. Then it is the job of the leader to bring in a law to penalize the wrongdoers or direct state machineries to take action against persons indulged in illegal acts. That's why they are called legislators/lawmakers.

•    Money

•    Answer is still money

•    We always go on blaming the elected leaders that they are corrupted but in short if election is taken now only the same person will be elected and we the public should know that we are the one who is voting them to power. Our society is systematically and beautifully corrupted that we should keep on blaming each other till the end. I think it will be hard to bring a change .

•    Naga solution first. Then we can talk about corruption. Until n unless this problem is not solved,I see no sense in talking about corruption.

•    If there was no corruption within the system and among our leaders there would be definitely less corruption in our society. The question in context appears to be incoherent and unintelligent in my view.

•    The pastors are corrupted too like the political leaders. In the name of Jesus they are looting people. In the name of donation such a big amount is received daily, which is more a business. This money should be utilised for development of people, not for expansion of church walls. All these pastors and their assistant members are enjoying this money.

•    Most corrupt is - Bureaucrats > Politicians> Contractor> Public

•    Everyone is responsible for it.
