Dimapur, July 8 (MExN): Tuluni, the premier festival of the Sümis was observed with traditional fervor and cultural exhibition at Yehemi village under Suruhuto sub-division of Zunheboto district on July 8.

Gracing the festival as Tuluni papuh (Tuluni father) H Khehovi Yeptho, Advisor, Tourism and Art & Culture, Government of Nagaland, expressed appreciation towards Yehemi village for preserving the age old traditional and cultural customs and showcasing them at the festival. Khehovi said that showcasing of such cultural performances marks the true sense of the festival without which the celebration becomes meaningless.

He urged Yehemi villagers to document the cultural items and preserve it for future generations and towards this, he assured the villagers that he would assist the cultural troupes financially, according to a press release received here on Friday.

Stressing on unity, he asked ‘if we continue to hold tight with each other, who can be there to separate us?’  He lamented that his constituency people did their best by sending him to NLA but unluckily pandemic played bad sport for two years and he could not perform as planned. However, he expressed hope that his constituency people will understand the reality and continue to cooperate with him in all aspects of life.

Various cultural performances by men and women including the elders and children were showcased during the celebration. The festival ended with a grand Tuluni feast.
