KOHIMA (MExN): The Nagaland University Kohima campus students today celebrated their 13th Freshers’ day at the State Academy Hall, Kohima. University freshmen attended the celebration with high spirits, all decked up for the grand occasion.

NSN Lotha, General secretary, North East Students’ organization (NESO) who graced the occasion as the chief guest stressed on the need to organize more cultural activities for the students since “We Nagas in general, always have the question of identity at the back of the mind and so the need to develop and live our culture practically. We are unable to identify ourselves with our own culture. And since we are indigenous people, without our culture we will be ‘no men’ without an identity and so instead of living by the stories, let us live the story” he said. He further said that it was up to the present generation to develop the present Naga culture as, “if we don’t recover what is already lost it will be too late.”

He also encouraged the freshers to live by the experiences and deeds of their seniors by learning from their mistakes all the while imbibing good impressions a good student was expected to leave behind so that they would not have any regrets to deter their self esteem when graduating from university academics.

It was a colorful event with many of special numbers presented by the students. Chingkang Konyak delivered a speech on behalf of the seniors while Thonsenlo Magh, President Post Graduate Student Union (PGSU) said the presidential address, and Airong said the blessing.
