FGN reaffirms support to FNR

Dimapur, July 23 (MExN): In a significant statement, the FGN today expressed its weariness at the “mushrooming” of one too many “various peace and reconciliation committees” by different organizations and “Indian political parties.” The FGN has said that its support is with the Forum for Naga Reconciliation and implied that any other platform would be ‘detrimental to the peace and reconciliation process already brought in” by the Forum for Naga reconciliation.

Considering its statement of reaffirmation supporting the reconciliation forum, the FGN was also total in its stance that the formation of “one Naga Common Platform,” rather than being helpful, is “detrimental.” For this, the group made clear, it would not be a party to, nor encourage any peace and reconciliation “committees” as long as the forum is working to bring about peace and reconciliation among the different groups.

The FGN expressed its view and dismay at the recent “mushrooming of various peace and reconciliation committees by different organizations and Indian political parties.” ‘Although the FGN advocates and endorses peace and reconciliation of all Nagas, as is evident in the signing of Covenant of Reconciliation, yet we believe that this recent proposal for formation of one Naga Common Platform instead of being helpful is detrimental to the peace and reconciliation process already brought in by FNR,” the FGN stated.

“Hence, the Federal Government of Nagaland states that it will not be a party to nor encourage any peace and reconciliation committees as long as FNR is working to bring about peace and reconciliation among the different groups of Nagaland,” the FGN assured in the statement, appended by the ‘deputy secretary’ of “Rali Wali.”  The organization explained the distance the Nagas’ quest for peace has covered, the huge toll and suffering of generations but with no sign of respite in the hostility and violence.

The FGN stated: “In the midst of this, the Forum for Naga Reconciliation took birth under the divine revelation from Shisa Hoho (Doing in Obedience) to bring about peace and reconciliation among different Naga political groups. In the process, the FNR efforts to bring reconciliation amongst various political groups seems to have lessened the sounds of guns in Nagaland and eventually their efforts led to the signing of the Covenant of Reconciliation by Brig.(Retd) S Singnya, Kedahge FGN, SS Khaplang, chairman, NSCN/GPRN, Isak Chishi Swu, chairman, NSCN/GPRN.” Taking these issues into consideration, the FGN assured that it’s reaffirmation and support is to the Forum for Naga reconciliation “which will continue till we reached our ultimate goals.”
