Flag and constitution are face of Naga political struggle & identity: NSCN (IM)

Dimapur, October 15 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) on Friday reiterated its stand on the demand for Naga Flag and Constitution. Terming the flag and the constitution as the face of the Naga political struggle and identity, it stated that the NSCN (IM) “would not follow the forbidden route to the Naga solution that is linked to foregoing the Naga national flag and Constitution…”

A statement issued by the NSCN (IM) MIP asserted that the ‘huge burden’ of the Naga political issue that the Government of India (GoI) is struggling to unload is not the making of the Naga people. “It is deeply rooted in India’s malicious pleasure violating the historical and political rights of the Naga people for more than six decades,” it observed.

The NSCN (IM) accused the GoI of indulging in ‘divisive policy and flattery’ in the name of finding the Naga political solution when the issue gets ‘too hot to handle’. It further alleged that in the present context, “made in India collaborators” have been planted to confuse the Nagas with “typical high sounding promises but having no political commitment to fulfill as done in the past.”

It stated that the GoI’s ‘post solution’ offer for the Naga flag and constitution is being brought back to “trap the Naga people again to accept whatever is being offered to hurry up the Naga talk.” It however added that, “…the bitter lesson of the past is driving away the NSCN from giving any face value after seeing through the crafty wickedness of the offer,” and asserted that foregoing the Naga flag and constitution would be “making comical entity out of the Naga solution.”

“The Naga flag with divine origin cannot be traded or bargained to make the Nagas as infidel people,” the NSCN (IM) stated.
