Give preference to Naga entrepreneurs, says BAN

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 19 (MExN): The Business Association of Nagas (BAN) has appealed to the Government of Nagaland to give preference to Naga entrepreneurs while allocating shops at the upcoming shopping complex at Forest Colony here. This was stated in a press release from BAN’s information and publicity.

The BAN raised fear on its part that unless caution and consultation is exercised, this shopping complex might also turn into another Naga Shopping Arcade (super market) at Nagarjan junction. “It is unfortunate and painful to see that super market complex with its idle location, parking space and infrastructure, turned into booze joints and cheap housing area which otherwise could have been the pride of Nagaland and perhaps one of the best shopping complexes in the northeast. The place has been sublet over and over that it has become difficult to identify under whose name it has been leased,” informed the press release.

With “political will,” felt BAN, things can be set right. It added that the Government should take the allocation of shops seriously so that Naga youth can be self employed and benefitted through the new shopping complex. “Therefore BAN fervently appeals to the Government of Nagaland and the concern department to set up a committee for allocation of shops comprising of members from BAN, DNSU and Naga Council Dimapur so as to identify genuine Naga entrepreneurs,” it stated.
