DIMAPUR, MAY 8 (MExN): Nagamese Baptist Church Association (NBCA), established in February 2008 is now an affiliate of the Nagaland Baptist Churches’ Council (NBCC). The NPCA had received the approval of the state’s apex Baptist church forum for affiliation in 2010. Today as the youngest affiliate of the NBCC, the NPCA formally installed the Rev. R. Meren as president and the Rev. Dr. Chen Rengma as its executive secretary. The installation ceremony was held at Burma Camp Nagamese Baptist church on Sunday, May 8. General Secretary of the NBCC, the Rev. Dr. Anjo Keikung oversaw the ceremony.
NBCA conducts installation service
“We’re gathered here today to make official the installation of the NBCA’s president and executive secretary”, said the NBCC general secretary in his address to a congregation of mixed colours. On the role of the newest affiliate of the NBCC he said: “The formation of the NPCA is not to compete with the NBCC.
“Dwelling on the term ‘Mission’ from a Christian perspective, he said that it is a comprehensive term, inclusive of all the activities – evangelism, social service and action – for which Jesus came to this world. “Evangelism is the heart of Mission… without evangelism, Mission is without purpose.”  He added that God has entrusted to each and everyone to fulfill His plan, as such everyone should understand and be responsible to their assigned tasks. Remarking that Nagas in general consider even those non-Nagas who are Christians as ‘Gentiles’, hence he challenged the NBCA to break this barrier or rather prejudice.  “The Good News is not only for the Nagas of Nagaland”, he reminded while adding that it is also for the others who live amongst “us”.
NBCA is one means to reach out to such people. Hence, while keeping this in mind, the NBCA has been given the mandate to carry the burden together, to fulfill God’s plan, he said. “Let us work to bring in the lost souls… let us strip off the titles and call ourselves evangelists with a mission.” An evangelist from the CRBC, the Rev. S. Thong pronounced the ‘installation prayer’ invoking the Almighty’s blessing to the newly appointed NBCA executives.
