Chümoukedima, April 7 (MExN): A mock exercise on an earthquake will be carried out at Chümoukedima on April 8. In this relation, ADC Chümoukedima, Dr Kuzo chaired a meeting regarding on April 7. The exercise will simulate the 1897 earthquake of Magnitude 8.7 Richter Scale which occurred in Shillong. The exercise is been organized by National Disaster State Management Authority in collaboration with NDRF& SDRF, stated a DIPR report.
Assistant Manager (Response &Communication) and Nodal Officer (DM), Dimapur, Rendemo Shitio informed that the exercise will take place at the two sites- St Joseph Higher Secondary School and Bituo Marketing Complex, Chümoukedima. He informed all the concerned citizens of those incident sites areas not to panic and cooperate with the authority.
The meeting held a threadbare discussion on the response, rescue, and rehabilitation preparation plan and strategy to mitigate the damage and loss of lives and property during high-intensity earthquakes and other disasters. The officers had a brainstorming discussion on how to carry out damage assessment at the time of disaster so that resources can be allocated for disaster response and relief operations.
