Move to divide Naga family absurd & unacceptable: NSCN-K (YA)

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 3 (MExN): The NSCN-K (Yung Aung) has condemned the recent decision taken by the Government of India to build ‘separation fence’ over the imposed Indo-Myanmar boundary as “another attempt to justify and legalize her illegal occupation of the Naga country.”

“This move to physically divide the Naga family on the pretext of security and drugs control is not only absurd and unacceptable, but also undermines the Naga people’s struggle to sovereignty,” a MIP release issued by the NSCN –K (YA) stated on Saturday.

It cautioned that Nagas on both sides of the imposed border will not simply stand by and allow this separation fence to violate and threaten it rights, future and way of lives while adding, “This fence will not serve any purpose but only invite provocation and further complicate the Naga issue.”

It also pointed out that Nagas have never asked for the so-called Free Movement Regime (FMR) in the first place. “Today the free movement of the Nagas are being restricted to the core by hundreds of Indian checkpoints and obstacles spread through the Naga country. This level of repression has caused deep trauma and insecurity among our people for the last many decades,” it stated.

The NSCN-K (YA), meanwhile, appreciated all the Nagas from every nook and corners of the Naga country for raising a united voice against the illegal policy. “We are encouraged and motivated by your strong unity in condemning this symbol of occupation,” it added.
