Zapuvisie Lhousa
Member CEC, Naga National Council
There were yesteryears
When others spoke of the virtues of the Nagas
Their integrity and broadminded plans
That were inclusive of each other.
They came from separate regions and separate villages
Neither could understand the other’s tongue
Not did they know the extent of Naga territories
Yet they first thought of Naga well being
‘We will not be ruled by others, we will live on our own’
Vowing this aim our leaders signed their names to the memorandum to Simon,
Such have our men done
May the generations of today
Live with regard for each other
Compassionate toward one another
For by this the blessing of God
Will come upon you all.
Tussling over positions of leadership
Will nullify the Plebiscite
God forbid that such should come to pass
Many bones have been buried in the jungles
The bones of some men lie in Melikha
The bones of others lie in Khwiyiedzü
They gave their today for our tomorrow
Lord we wait upon your will
Kuknalim, Kuknalim, Kuknalim.
Dear readers,
The Naga Nation Plebiscite was published in Capi (Newspaper) in the year 2023. For the convenience of all the Nagas today translated into the English version has been publishing in the form of poetry. Thanking you.
