Seizes items amounting to Rs 66,72,000 at street value

The state Excise Department registered a total of 16 cases w.e.f. June 27, 2019 to June 26, 2020 with the total seizure of items amounting to Rs 66,72,000 at street value.


Deputy Commissioner of Excise (Narcotic Cell), Nagaland, S Chanlei Angh disclosed this during the observation of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking at the premises of the office of Commissioner of Excise, Dimapur on June 26.


The seized items included 8360 bottles of codeine based cough syrup, 240 kgs of Ganja, 10, 385 capsules of Spasmo Proxyvon, 64 tablets of Nitrosun, 240.9 grams of Heroin, 500 grams of Morphine and 3430 kgs of Popp Straw.


Addressing the gathering, Commissioner of Excise & Prohibition, Sedevikho Khro said that the theme, ‘better knowledge for better care’ which is the year’s theme called for all excise personnel to acquire better knowledge regarding the activities of the illegal activities since many a times false information were being fed to them leading to many such illegal activities escaping their sight. He emphasized on the need to improve understanding of the drug problems. He encouraged all to personnel to work with determination as a team through cooperation and understanding.


Talking about the significance of the day, Additional Commissioner of Excise, Kevisetuo Angami called upon the Excise personnel to rededicate themselves to secure the future of the younger generation. He observed that despite stringent rules.


The day was also marked with signing of pledge by the gathering.
