MOKOKCHUNG, OCTOBER 4 (MExN): The Nagaland state unit of the National People’s Party (NPP) restricted its Mokokchung unit on October 3.

A press release from the IPR & Media Cell, NPP Nagaland State informed that “numerous renowned and leaders of good public standing” were inducted into the party folds during the NPP Mokokchung district unit’s induction program which was held at Mokokchung on 3rd October 2020.

The program was chaired by the newly inducted General Secretary (Administration) of NPP Mokokchung district youth wing, Neil Verma. It began with the invocation prayer led by Jonathan, President of the Mokokchung District Youth Wing.

The welcome address was delivered by the new General Secretary (Administration) of NPP Mokokchung District, Matsungtula after which appointment letters were distributed to the newly inducted officials by the State President, Dr. Andrew Ahoto Sema.

This was followed by speeches from the outgoing District President, I Bendang Jamir as well as the newly appointed District President, Aongsen Aier. Outgoing President, I Bendang Jamir was recently elevated to the post of State Executive Member.

In his brief address, Aongsen expressed his gratitude at being appointed as the District President of the party and assured the gathering that he would do his best to uphold the party's ideology and principles and work for the people of Mokokchung.

State General Secretary (IPR & Media), Tohovi Achumi, in his speech gave a brief outline about the history and significance of NPP as a National Party with a difference. He laid emphasis on the party’s growing presence not only in the State of Nagaland but also throughout the entire North East, Sikkim and North Bengal.

This was followed by some words of encouragement and support by Limanuksung Longkumer, the State General Secretary (Organization). In his Presidential Address, Dr. Andrew Ahoto Sema, the State President of NPP Nagaland State briefed the assembly about the consistent growth and optimal health of the party especially after the new team of NPP State Executive took over in 2019. He also spoke in general about the induction of all ranks and files across all the districts which he remarked was a challenging yet a remarkable achievement for the party within a span of only a few months.

“What has come as a welcome change for the party towards strengthening it in a much more better way is that some of the prominent local leaders from other main stream parties have also joined NPP. Some of them include Takameren who was the former BJP District Youth President and Noklenmangyang who was the District Congress Youth Vice President.

While the former has been inducted as the District Vice President, the latter has been appointed as the District Youth Vice President of NPP,” informed the press release.

Meanwhile, the NPP State Executive officials have expressed optimism that all ranks and files of Mokokchung district would soon be set up “on a war-footing and many more members from all popular parties would be joining NPP to strengthen it further before the next general elections.”

The NPP State Executive has also expressed hope that with the “perpetual support of the general public at all times NPP’s vision and mission of ‘One Voice, One North East’ will be fulfilled in letter and spirit and it will very soon emerge as a new trendsetter in Nagaland State politics.” NPP Nagaland State has incorporated the same slogan in Nagaland with a new tag line of ‘One Voice, One Nagaland’ in order to unify all the diverse tribes of the State, the party stated.
