Droupadi Murmu conferred the Padma Shri Award, the fourth highest civilian honour in India, to Sano Vamuzo from Nagaland at Rashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi

President of India, Droupadi Murmu conferred the Padma Shri Award, the fourth highest civilian honour in India, to Sano Vamuzo from Nagaland at Rashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi on May 9. The founding president of the Naga Mothers’ Association, social worker and educationist, Vamozu received the award for her distinguished service in the field of social work in Nagaland. She has worked on wide-ranging issues such as women rights, drug and alcohol abuse, education, health, economic exploitation and deforestation. For the year 2024, the President conferred 132 Padma Awards including 2 duo cases. The list comprises 5 Padma Vibhushan, 17 Padma Bhushan and 110 Padma Shri Awards. 30 of the awardees are women and the list also includes 8 persons from the category of Foreigners / NRI / PIO / OCI and 9 posthumous awardees.
