Plebiscite Day should not be used for an evil intention

The FNR (Forum for Naga Reconciliation) lead by Dr Wati Aier seems to be working for reconciliation, but contrary to its objective, practically he created many factions by inviting them to the meetings. The NNC/FGN advised him in March 2008 and February 2009, saying; do not create factions, because he initially recognized new factions. Also, we told him, to persuade and give pressure on factional leaders to stop killings and given up factionalism. The NNC/FGN always opens the door for reconciliation and it must be on the basis of a prodigal son returns to his father (Biblical story).

Moreover, we suggested him to hold meeting of Naga brothers or prayer meeting for reconciliation, but not as factional leaders’ meeting. In such meeting of factional leaders, the NNC/FGN leaders will not attend. Because, you should know that NNC/FGN is not a faction. The meeting should be in Nagaland but not in Chiang Mai, Thailand, because the NNC/FGN leaders cannot go on the Indian Passports. But he doesn’t take heed to our advice, instead enjoys inviting all factional leaders to the FNR meetings in Chiang Mai and Dimapur and recognizing them in the past 16 years, which might be his top agenda.

In the interest of readers’ knowledge, a single event is mentioned here: in July 2011, FNR meeting was held in Chiang Mai, Thailand. During the meeting it was known to all that Khule and Ketovi broke away from the NSCN-K group on 7thJune 2011.

Hence, Pastor Gam Win who is from Khaplang’s area and staying in Chiang Mai, fervently requested Dr Wati not to invite the broken away group of Khule and Katovito the meeting of FNR. If he does so, Khaplang group will go against FNR and will never attend the FNR meeting again. But after he went back to Dimapur, Nagaland, he immediately invited Khule and Ketovito the FNR meeting held on 20-26th August 2011, in Dimapur, and the two leaders signed the Concordant Agreement for a new government as President and Ato Kilonser of a new faction of NSCN-K.

Even FNR tried to make the NNC/FGN as a faction by inviting them to attend the meeting every time, where the factional leaders were gathering. The NNC/FGN never attends the meeting of FNR, because the NNC/FGN is not a faction.

According to the Resolution of FNR and NPGs on 13th April 2024, the FNR and NPGs will celebrate 74th Plebiscite Day on May 16, 2024 and they are expecting 10 thousand people to attend the celebration. The simple-minded Naga people will attend the function without knowing they are recognizing the factions on such an important day.

The Nagas have the right to celebrate the 74th Plebiscite Day as the NNC never deterred from the Naga National stand even if it faced ups and downs in political situation from within and without. The FNR, NSF, other Naga NGOs, and the Naga people have the right to observe it as the NNC members. Because all Nagas, who were born of Naga blood are bona fide members of the NNC. In 1951, there was only NNC butno faction. And it should be the same today as well.

The Plebiscite Day is a sacred national Day for the Nagas. And therefore, it should not be used for an evil intention to recognize all factions by inviting them to the celebration. Indeed, no Naga wants to create or recognize the factions, because the factions are giving enormous trouble to the Nagas. Recently, “Indefinite shutter downs of businesses” in Nagaland has been taken place called by Dimapur Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI), because the illegal taxation and money extortion by the factions grieved the business.

All Naga people know that on this Plebiscite Day, 74 years ago on May 16, 1951, 99.9% of the Naga people had given an immutable mandate to the NNC to safeguard the Naga nation and speak for the future of Nagaland.

Following the mandate given to the NNC, if the FNR insists all factional leaders to give up factionalism and rejoin the NNC again, would be good and well for the Naga nation. It is appreciable that the FNR already recognized the Naga national Anthem on March 6, and April 13, 2024 meetings. Also, it would be beneficial for all if the FNR declares November 11, as a ‘Thanks Giving Day to God’ in Nagaland, because through the divine intervention the Naga nation was saved from the brink of doom in 1975.

Without taking such steps, inviting all factions to the celebration would be no meaning, except recognition to them.

Let the NSCN-IM leaders also admit that condemning the NNC was wrong and formation of NSCN was a mistake and political blunder in the history, and stop telling lies and deceiving Naga people.
