Power dept notifies on jungle cutting and clearance for Wokha district

Kohima, October 7 (MExN): The Executive Engineer, Transmission Division, Kohima has informed the public that jungle clearance and maintenance programme of 132KV, 66V & 33KV Lines is scheduled starting from October 9 till 16 under Wokha district from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM in an effort to avoid disruption and facilitate stable power supply.

“While the department shall try to minimize the total shutdown, there will be intermittent disruption of power supply in some pockets during the activity which is unavoidable,” the department stated. Therefore, all the consumers and public have been requested to bear the inconvenience caused.

Schedule date for jungle cutting and clearance for Wokha district is as follows: 
•    October 9 and 10-132KV Doyang to Sanis
•    October 11 and 12- 132KV Wokha to Sanis
•    October 13 and 16- Kohima to Wokha

Rampant electricity theft in Wokha town
Meanwhile, the SDO, Electrical Sub-Division, Wokha Er Thanyalo Kath has informed that it has come to the notice that rampant electricity theft is prevailing by means of illegal connection and whereas under Section 135 of the Indian Electricity Act 2003 illegal connection, hooking, looping of electric supply line or tampering with meter is a punishable offence.

Therefore, SDO, Electrical Sub-Division, Wokha said, it has come to the notice that there are such cases in Wokha town which has led to damage of transformers and electrical appliances of other consumers.

It has been notified that such cases once caught will be strictly dealt as per provisions of the Law. Respective colony chairman are directed to take note and prevent illegal connection for better power supply to the colony. 

Further it is to be mentioned that any electrical connection has to be taken through proper procedure.
