Nagaland is a Christian state. The people, they do, have a firm belief in the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ; as well as His Second Coming. He is indeed coming but none can tell or predict “WHEN” He will come, Day, Noon, Evening or Night all these hadn’t been foretold – be it the Christian leaders, Revered Reverends or any faithful and staunch believers. So, the true fact still remains un- answered! Among all these, from the rest of the days in every week, Sunday is / re mains the most holy and divine day, observed by all the people professing the Christian faith to worship and adore The Savior of the world and its people caught in the quagmire of abominable acts or sins.
A day to serve Him with total devotion. As the Bible says in the chapters of Exodus 20:10, and 23: 17. “Verily my Sabbaths ye shall keep for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations that you know that I am the Lord that doth sanctify you. Ye shall keep the Sabbath therefore: for it is holy unto you, every one that defiled it shall be put to death; for whom son ever doeth my work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among its people. On the other hand, trading, buying and selling on this holy day are forbidden. Wherefore it is lawful to do something good or holy or well (worshiping and devotion, teaching and healing and saving lives) on the Sabbath days.”
The Bible is the living witness of our Lord Jesus Christ. He warned about false prophets and false preachers. Indeed, the daily prayers are our source of needed information that sometimes provides with allusive taste and explicit caption that causes the readers to believe. Just for an instance, our Christian religion, the society or any social set up strongly prohibits / bans taking or drinking kind of substance and chemical intoxicants.
Fellow brethren in Christ are we suffering from fear psychosis utterly incompetent to protect ourselves or the sanctity of the Sabbath, or for that matter of fact, Sunday according to our Christian Faith? Or, are we compromising to someone or a particular person or person’s points / views?
The closure of Sunday in buying or selling is a global issue and long felt desire that serves the common interest of the hordes of general publics. Also, the directive of the DMC, with regard to the closure of shops or any business businesses and establishments, (with due exception to medical, chemist and pharmacies) is a holistic and courageous and applauding move / decision.
Sunday is not only an off- day or a holiday but it’s a holy day that is solemnly observed throughout the world totally irrespective of diverse religions.
