RPODU general session and thanksgiving programme held

Dimapur, January 13 (MExN): The Razeba Public Organization Dimapur Unit (RPODU) held its general session-cum-thanksgiving programme, at Zhavame Community Building, Sovima village on January 13.

Addressing the session as guest speaker, Rev Fr Anthony Rozü Dukru, Parish Priest and Principal, St Joseph Parish Chümoukedima started his speech with an activity to illustrate how action speaks louder than words. He thanked the leaders of RPODU for providing him a platform to share his thoughts with the people from Razeba range residing in Dimapur. He shared that the get-together was a wonderful opportunity to connect, get to know more about one another, unite as one community from Razeba range, and exchange thoughts on how to take the people of Razeba forward, according to a press release from the Media Team.

Explaining the illustrated activity, Rev Dukru emphasized that the main responsibility of parents today is to love and honor one another as couples; because that is what their children will learn and imitate them in future. He shared two stories highlighting the role of parents in disciplining their children and the responsibility of each individual in the progress of the society they live in.

He went on to add that education is the need of the hour, stating that it should not be confined to educational institutions alone. Parents should take equal responsibility to follow up with the lessons learnt in school, he said, posing a challenge to the parents to do away with being Sunday Christians and encouraging them to have regular family prayers at home.

He recalled his childhood memories of how young children would gather in fireplaces after the sun sets in, listen to their parents and elders telling them stories. He shared the wide disparity of today’s generation wherein they have become strangers in their homes by way of being hooked to various gadgets and not spending time with one another.

Reo Dukru, President of RPODU, in his presidential address acknowledged the members residing in Dimapur for living their lives well and also shared the challenges faced in his tenure as president. A one-minute silence was observed to pay tribute to the loss of 5 members in 2019-2021. While applauding to the role of its members in their respective churches, he challenged them to also contribute in the same spirit in social activities as well especially in emergencies such as accidents, deaths etc.

According to the release, Dezü Resüh, the finance secretary of RPODU chaired the function.  Special numbers were presented by Zhavame women Society Dimapur, Zelome Welfare Society Dimapur and Rachel Lea.
