DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 14 (MExN): Students of Sao Chang College staged a peaceful rally on October 13 in protest against the non fulfillment of the charter of demands made by Chang Wedoshi Setshang, which include deployment of a principal, up-gradation of science laboratory, allocation of college buses and shortage of both teaching and non-teaching staff, among others.

The protest rally was held under the aegis of Sao Chang College Students’ Union, where hundreds of students marched from Clock Tower to Deputy Commissioner’s office with banners and placards.

Some of the placards read, “We stand because we care,”  “We study in fear,” “Where is your positive response,” “Sao Chang College being neglected,” “Tomorrow is too late,” among others.

A supporting letter towards the memorandum submitted by Chang Wedoshi Setshang was handed over to the DC to be forwarded to the Director, Department of Higher Education.

“We believe that the demand put forth by the Chang Wedoshi Setshang is in the best interest of our student community. We implore concern department to engage in constructive dialogue with the students and the representatives to resolve the issues promptly,” the letter read.
