The Southern Angami Youth Organization (SAYO) has informed that it is continuing its pursuit to ensure that the perpetrators responsible for the recent Dzükou Valley fire are nabbed.

After the organization lodged a complaint regarding the fire incident on January 13 at Khuzama Police Station, SAYO officials informed that the organisation also had a review visit with the officer In Charge whereby it was made known that the Khuzama PS is working in coordination with Mao Police.

Through video clips supporting the complaints that were furnished to the police, it was also informed that the specimen will be made use for the investigation.

However, it said that one challenge in identifying the culprits would be due to the unknown or untraced location or address of the perpetrators.

“It might take some time but it will be made sure that the case is persuaded till the perpetrators are nabbed. For this, we will constantly keep in touch and give full support to the law enforcement agency,” the officials added.

In 2018, a previous wildfire believed to have been caused by some tourists damaged parts of the valley. As per directives issued by government and the organization for visitors to the valley, burning jungles or making fire in the valley remains prohibited. The penalty to this day is Rs. 50,000.

The parent youth body of the Southern Angami region has filed an FIR alleging some youths of perpetrating the fire in the valley on January 12.
