State oldest science college observes 49th foundation day

The oldest Science college in the state, Kohima Science College (KSC), which got incepted in the year 1961 with the motto ‘Omnia Vincit Labor’ (Labor overcomes everything) today observed its 49th foundation day at college auditorium with commissioner & secretary, Veterinary Animal Husbandry and Sericulture, L.H.Thangi Mannen as the chief Guest. The college is in full swing to celebrate its 50 birth anniversary though it is sad to note that only few of its founding members are alive to join the jubilation. 

Speaking at the function as the chief guest, Mannen congratulated the college authority for making the efforts reach 50 years of its achievements. Thangi Mannen said, KSC today is a vindication of the faith of the founding fathers belief in the future and therefore must accept the challenges of the new world. She urged upon the students to take a multi-disciplinary approach towards developing common solutions to solve global challenges and to have a focused vision and persistently try to bring about a lasting cultural change to broaden the excellence of the college in all directions. 

A group of Land donors also joined in the celebration. Addressing on behalf of land donors, Dolhoukho-u Peseyie thanked the founding members for the struggle they had made where the students are harvesting now. He also expressed his gratitude to the faculty members for bringing laurels to the Naga Society. Vimenuo Sekhose also spoke on behalf of the founding members. She noted that founding members initiated with difficulties to educate the students efficiently and scientifically. Vimenuo expressed her happiness stating that the aims and objectives of the founding members are fulfilled being the college one of the oldest and best in the state.

Meritorious award in memory of the seven founding members were also given to University toppers in various subject. The award is being financed by the teachers of Science College with an aim to let the students inculcate a sense of hard work to excel in the field of education.  Dr. Neilhouzhü K.Angami award for Life science was awarded to Vimenuo Mere. Imkongtila Jamir was awarded J.B.Jasokie award for Earth Science. Keduonyü Sekhose Award for humanity was awarded to Vituozonuo Kiditsu. Tsibi was honoured for U.M Deb Award for Statistics. Vizol Award for Physics was awarded to Narayan Sharma while Shampandey was honoured Rev. Haizotuo Munshi Award for Mathematics.

Earlier, the programme was chaired by Dr. seyiekhrielie Whiso, Assisstant Professor, Department of English. The programme was followed by debate competition.
