TUD affirms political principle of ‘One People, One Nation’

Decides not to participate in Nagaland People’s Action Committee programmes

Dimapur, June 29 (MExN): The Tenyimi Union Dimapur (TUD) has resolved to stand on the political principle of ‘One People, One Nation’ (without border) taken by “AZ Phizo based on the ideals of the 1951 Plebiscite.”

This was unanimously resolved during a consultative meeting on June 28, TUD, President, Vekhosayi Nyekha and Vice President, Luangbe Zeliang stated in a press release. The union stated that in view of the developing situation arising out of the on-going political talks between the Gol and various Naga National Groups, TUD had during a consultative meeting on June 28.

TUD stated that it is equally concerned about the political development taking place in Naga’s homeland in recent times and that “any settlement/solution should be acceptable, honourable and inclusive of all Nagas and groups.”

On the formation of Nagaland People’s Action Committee (NPAC) under the aegis of Nagaland GBs’ Federation (NGBF), TUD viewed it with all seriousness and that “GBs being agents/appointees of the government, has no authority to initiate such programmes which may further divide the Nagas when every section of the society longs for permanent peace.”

Therefore, TUD resolved not to participate in any programme organized by NPAC and also appealed to every right-thinking citizen to refrain from participation in any such programmes which may be “detrimental to peace and tranquillity.”

The meeting was attended by the TUD officials, representatives of the affiliated tribal units and frontal organizations of TUD including Tenyimi Students Union Dimapur, Tenyimi Women Union Dimapur and Tenyimi Youth Organisation Dimapur.
