Government Middle School (GMS) Chendang in Tuensang district organised a study tour to Sao Chang College on May 4.

Led by Head Teacher Yemlongchaba, the excursion aimed to acquaint the young learners with the array of educational opportunities available at higher institutes while fostering a genuine enthusiasm for learning. Tuensang town is just 23 kms away from Chendang village but for most of them it was their first ever visit.

During their visit, students explored various educational resources at Sao Chang College. A tour of the Science Laboratories provided a first-hand glimpse into various experiments and samples, igniting curiosity and engagement among the pupils. The College Museum served as a repository of cultural heritage, imparting valuable lessons on the importance of preservation and heritage.

Reflecting on their experience, Kundang and Yongkong, both fourth-graders, exclaimed, “Today, we encountered many new things!” Meanwhile, Monyusangla and Nasen Tola, sixth-graders, expressed their determination, stating, “We will continue our studies diligently, aspiring to pursue college education one day.”

The significance of literature and technology was further elucidated during visits to the College Library and computer facilities, offering practical insights into academia. Engaged throughout, students like Moa Shojiba and Longki, fifth-graders, familiarized themselves with library usage and functions. For others, such as Yenchi Sonla and Poanglemba, both fourth-graders, the zoology lab presented a novel experience, marveling at aquariums and diverse marine species.

A highlight of the tour was the Floriculture unit, maintained under Rashtriya Uchchtar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA), where students were enthralled by the beauty of nature and the importance of environmental conservation.

Expressing gratitude, Head Teacher Yemlongchaba thanked the Directorate of School Education, Kohima for their support through the Performance Incentive Grant under NEP-NECTAR. Additionally, appreciation was conveyed to the Principal and faculties of Sao Chang College for their warm welcome and valuable insights, acknowledging the enduring impact on the students' academic journey.

The study tour reflects GMS Chendang's dedication to providing students with enriching educational experiences, preparing them for future academic pursuits and personal growth.
