Zunheboto, July 18 (MExN): FOCUS-IFAD Nagaland, in collaboration with the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, conducted river ranching with Indian Major Carps and Grass Carp on July 16 where two truckloads of fingerlings were released into the Tizu River, Zunheboto district.

A DIPR report stated that ADC Zunheboto, Moakumzuk Tzudir, speaking during the programme, said in Zunheboto, there are fewer chances of fish production and the only alternative option is riverine fisheries. Tzudir urged the citizens of Zunheboto to do away with the usage of bleaching powders, generators, or batteries which will lead to the extinction of aquatic species. 

President, Sumi Kukami Hoho, and Kashito Yepthomi said that the undertaking was possible because of the efforts of Minister for Agriculture, Kaito Aye, and APC, Kikheto Sema, IAS. He called upon the surrounding villages to enforce strict laws to curb the malpractices.

President, Sumi Hoho, I Nikheto Jimomi asserted that no matter how much effort someone makes if the citizens do not look after it all would be futile.

Earlier, the program was chaired by President, NDPP, Zunheboto region, Khehoshe H Yepthomi who also read the opening remarks while Deputy DAO, Zunheboto briefed on the FOCUS-IFAD project. A vote of thanks was proposed by President ZCCI and Advisor ZAPO, Kikheto Muru.
