Under-14 ‘Catch Them Young Tournament’ Sepaktakraw (Regu Event) held in Wokha

The District Level Under-14 “Catch them Young Tournament” Sepaktakraw (Regu Event) for Boys & Girls, organised by the District Sports Office, Wokha in coordination with the Wokha District Sepaktakraw Association, took place at Mount Sinai School, Wokha on May 4. 

The opening function was graced by Tsidi Hairang, SDO (Civil) Wokha, while the closing function was honoured by Asst Commandant Nand Kishor, Company Commander of 24 Assam Rifles, Wokha COB.

Tsidi Hairang, in his address, commended the participants for their proactive involvement in the tournament. He urged them to strive for excellence in their respective fields and to proudly represent the district not only at the state level but also on the national stage. 

Asst Commandant Nand Kishor, Company Commander of 24 Assam Rifles, Wokha COB, encouraged the youth to take a keen interest in such endeavors, emphasizing the importance of participation and dedication in honing their skills.

Youth Resource & Sports Officer & DSO in-Charge, Wokha Libemo Jami informed that the District Sports Council in-collaboration with Wokha District Sepaktakraw Association will enter Sepaktakraw in various schools in and about Wokha District and Villages by 2nd week of May 2024. 

A total of 60 students from various schools within Wokha District participated in the tournament. In the boys’ category, the final match unfolded between Mount Carmel and Cistus School, with Mount Carmel emerging victorious, clinching the top spot.

Meanwhile, in the girls’ category, Mount Carmel emerged the winner, facing off against Mount Sinai School. The matches commenced at 1400 hours and concluded at 1700 hours.

The winners will represent the district in the forthcoming State Level under -14 Catch Them Young Tournament which will be held from May 20 to 22. The event is set to be held at I.G. Stadium Kohima.
