‘Women should be ambassadors for peace’

DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 10 (MExN): Former minister (IPR) and senior Congressman Thomas Ngullie has said that women should play the role of “ambassadors” and build bridges between villages and communities. Addressing a get-together of women from Lakhuti village married outside their village and women married to Lakhuti villagers at Lakhuti Baptist Church on Sunday, the former minister who attended the meeting as special invitee said that women are not only home makers but also peace makers.

To Lakhuti women married to other villagers and communities, Thomas who is also a native of Lakhuti village, said that they should act as ambassadors and try to foster better relations between different villages and communities. To women from other villagers married to prosperous Lakhtuti villagers, he said that the women must understand that the family members, old friends and villagers still have “expectations” from the prosperous or successful Lakhutian.

“You must not forget the feelings of the villagers. Some of your husband’s family members or his old friends may not have prospered and still be struggling. So you must understand if his family and friends still have expectations from him, he said.

Thomas said that sometimes problems and unnecessary tension arises due to lack of understanding on the part of the women.

Stressing on the vital role of women in the society, he said that peace always prevails in homes and society where there are good mothers. Pastor of Lotha Baptist Church, Kohima, Rev. Mhathung Yanthan delivered the message.
