62nd R-Day observed across the state

Dimapur, January 27 (MExN): The 62nd Republic Day celebration was held in a befitting manner at Niuland public ground on Wednesday with hundreds of people from all walks life turned up to attend the function, which was graced by MLA & Chairman of NKVIB, Dr. Nicky Kire as the chief guest.
Addressing the function, Dr. Kire expounded the DAN government’s policy towards rural and backward areas. “The government is focusing on strengthening the village development boards (VDBs) and has declared the VDBs as “micro finance institutions.” “This will enable them to grant small loans to poor villagers and stand guarantee for bank loans,” he said.
Reiterating the DAN government slogan “Peace for development and development for peace,” Dr. Kire expressed sincere appreciation to all NGOs, Church organizations, the civil society and especially the Forum for Naga Reconciliation (FNR) for their tireless and selfless endeavour to bring peace in the state. Earlier, the chief guest unfurled the National Flag and took the salute from the parade contingents.

Longleng
The 62nd Republic day was celebrated at Longleng district with S. Pangyu Phom, Parliamentary Secretary RD & REPA, as the chief guest. A press note issued by DC Longleng, C.K Nihekhu Sema informed that the chief guest unfurled the National Flag and took salute from five parade contingents that included the DEF Longleng , 6th NAP Village Guards, Nyengching School NNC, and Longleng district Scouts and Guides. The chief guest also inaugurated the exhibition stalls put up by the departments of Agriculture, Sericulture, Industries & Commerce and ATMAs Longleng. Other highlights included performance of male folk dance by Nyengching Union Longleng and female folk dance by Pongo Unionlas representing the Phomla Hoichem. Another important event was administration of anti-rabies vaccine by the department of Animal & Husbandry Longleng.

Tseminyu
Tseminyu sub-division also celebrated the 62nd India Republic Day at RSA ground Tseminyu Old Town with MLA & advisor IT&C, Vikho-o Yhoshü as the chief guest.
Highlights of the day included folk dance by Tesophenyu group, special songs presented by Bethel Church Tseminyu town, T. Zisunyu Baptist Church and Tseminyu Town Baptist Church and a folk song was also presented by Tseminyu village. Tug of war between Rengma Mothers Association and ladies government staff Tseminyu was also held. The day long celebration was also mark by exhibition stalls put up by departments of SDAO, SM Industries, BDO, SDO (SC) and Fisheries. As part of the celebration India Red Cross Society Tseminyu visited the hospital. Chen SDO headquarter celebrated Republic Day at SDO rest house, Chen town. SDO (C) Chen, Lungheising as the chief guest unfurled the flag and delivered the Republic Day speech.

Rotary and Rotaract Club
The Rotary and Rotaract Club of Dimapur jointly celebrated the 62nd Republic Day at Central Jail and Bethesda. The club members distributed fruits and biscuits to all the 285 inmates of central jail, and nine blankets and fruits to Behesda inmates. The president Rtn Sanjay Kumar Jain gave the introductory speech followed by the speech of Rtn Pradip Jain, Rtn Tikaram Dhakal and Rtr. Ratan Dey, president Rotaract Club of Dimapur. Rtn.Lucy Akokla passed the vote of thanks. The members also prayed for the betterment of the life of the inmates. The club members also appreciated the cooperation rendered by the authorities and thanked them for their hospitality. This has been informed here in a press note.

NCSA
The Nagaland Civil Service Association (NCSA) president along with executive members visited the Old Age Home at Kohima, and interacted with the inmates on the occasion of republic day on January 26. The president, on behalf of the association, gave away a number of household requirements such as buckets, mugs, tea cups, vessels, cereals and cooking oil to the home. The inmates in turn prayed for the NCSA members and some of them even presented folk songs. The director of the Old Age Home thanked the NCSA for their concern towards the Home and prayed that in future too they would look forward to the association for help and assistance and that the visit has given courage for the management to strive higher in their endeavour.

IRCS
The Indian Red Cross society (IRCS), Nagaland State Branch Kohima (IRCSN) visited the patients/ inmates at leprosy Colony, Kohima on the occasion of Republic Day and provided food items to the inmates. The managing committee member includes Dr.S.Imkong Tushi Ao, Dr. R. Zinyü, Dr. Seyiekietuo and Kholie Dolf along with staff of IRCSN led by general secretary IRCSN, Dr.Zakie Kire. The team also had a short interaction with the inmates, Dr.Zakie Kire and Dr.S.Imkong Tushi stressed on the importance of keeping themselves and their surroundings clean and tidy.
