AR launches self empowerment project for women

Dimapur, January 9 (MExN): The 20 Assam Rifles under HQ 5 Sect Assam Rifles of IGAR (N) in its bid to address the social issue of empowerment of women folk in Medziphema sub division, established a Self Help Production cum Training Centre for stitching and knitting at the battalion HQ located at Ghaspani. The course was inaugurated by Diksha N Shukla, President, Assam Rifles Wives’ Welfare Organisation (ARWWA), 20 Assam Rifles on January 4 with an aim to endowing women folk a live of self-respect and self-dependence. The Training cum Production Centre consists of ten hand and foot sewing machines, informed a press note from Lt Col RP Velu, PRO, IGAR (N). It also stated that speaking during the ceremony, which was attended by a number of women organisations and GBs, Shukla assured of seamless support in helping them live a life of dignity and confidence. All participants expressed their gratitude to the Assam Rifles and stated that such welfare measures for affected women will go a long way in giving them a dignified life and earn them the respect in society.
