Dimapur, January 24 (MExN): The Assam Rifles under the different battalions conducted ‘Pulse Polio Campaign’ at its respective headquarters on January 19.

 

Zunheboto: Zunheboto Battalion of Assam Rifles organized ‘Pulse Polio Campaign’ at its headquarters. 30 children from surrounding villages of Zunheboto town were given polio drops in sync with the nation- wide Campaign.

 

Tuensang: Tuensang Battalion organized the drive in remote villages of the Area of Responsibility in collaboration with the District Immunisation Office. 326 children (179 boys and 147 Girls) from Chenloiso, Wangti, Changlangshu and Tobu were given Polio drops to prevent debilitating disease under the National programme.

 

Shamatore: Shamatore Battalion undertook the campaign to ensure healthy growth and development of children at Noklak and Shamatore villages in collaboration with Primary Health Centre, Tuensang. Stalls were established at designated locations to facilitate easy access to parents and children. A selfie corner “I am Immune” was also placed to spread awareness about the importance of the life saving pulse polio drops. 437 children, to include 203 boys and 234 girls, below five years of age were administered Polio drops.

 

Phek: Phek Battalion conducted the programme in order to mitigate the risk of polio virus. A Pulse Polio Immunization camp was set up at the Battalion Unit Hospital. A total of 116 children were immunized.

 

Mokokchung: Mokokchung Battalion conducted the campaign at Tuli, Changki and Dessoi village of Mokokchung district as well as in Longleng district. Apart from administering the life saving drops, the unit medical staff imparted about the importance of ‘Polio Vaccine’ to the residents. A total of 235 children were immunized.

 

Kiphire: Kiphire Battalion organized the programme in Longthonger and Penkim village, Kiphire district in collaboration with District Immunisation Office. The villagers including men, women and children after the programme received free consultation and medicines for various ailments like seasonal viral infection, respiratory tract infections, acid peptic disorder, low backaches and joint pain.


A total of 114 children under 5 years received the Polio drops to prevent debilitating disease and sustain polio eradication.

 

Ghaspani: Ghaspani Battalion of Assam Rifles Battalion conducted the drive at Jalukie, Peren, Pedi and Athibung villages in collaboration with District Hospital and Primary Health Centres, Nagaland. Vaccination booths were placed at various locations to assist residents and medical staff in organizing the drive effectively. A door-to-door campaign was also carried out to ensure no child was left without vaccination. A total of 468 children were immunized.
