Sets up ‘committee for release of cash’

Mon, January 24 (DIPR): DC & DEO Mon, K. Thavaseelan, IAS has notified that a ‘Committee for Release of Cash’ has been constituted in Mon district as per the Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines. This Committee is constituted to suo-motu examine each case of seizure made by the Police or Static Surveillance Teams or Flying Squads. The Committee would also ensure that there is no inconvenience to the public and genuine persons and also for redressal of their grievance, if any, regarding seizure of cash. The members of the aforesaid committee are: Convenor- Nodal Officer of Election Expenditure Monitoring in the District Election Office; Member- PD, DRDA and District Treasury Officer.  

Order on Licensed Arms/Weapons

District Magistrate Mon, K. Thavaseelan, IAS on 18th January 2018 issued an order prohibiting the carrying of licensed arms/weapons within the jurisdiction of Mon district under Section 144(A) of the Cr.PC in view of the ensuing 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly Elections 2018 and with the guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI) to ensure peaceful, free and fair polls and for preservation of public peace and safety and for the maintenance of public order.  

However, carrying of licensed arms for the purpose of verification at the nearest Police Station or deposition of the same and for uploading in the National Database on Arms Licence (NDAL) is exempted from the purview of this order. This order will come into force from the date of issue of the order and will stand till the completion of the election process.  

Model Code of Conduct

DC & DEO Mon, Thavaseelan K., IAS has notified all the concerned that the Model Code of Conduct for Political Parties and candidates came into effect throughout Mon district since 18th January, 2018 and will continue to remain in force till the conclusion of the election process. The political parties, intending candidate, government departments/establishments and the general public are informed to take note of the same and adhere strictly to the Model Code of Conduct, he added. Further, DC requested all concerned to extend cooperation to the District Election Machinery to ensure peaceful conduct of the General Elections to the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly 2018.  

Defacement of Government Property

DC & DEO Mon, Thavaseelan K., IAS has notified that defacement of Government property in the form of wall writing/posters/papers or defacement in any other form such as cutouts, hoardings, banners, flags etc. is strictly banned for the entire period that the Model Code of Conduct is in force since 18th January, 2018 till the completion of the election process. DC directed that all such defacement are to be removed within the stipulated period and any failure to comply with these instructions will amount to violation of Model Code of Conduct as per the directives of the Election Commission of India (ECI).  

Head of Offices informed

DC & DEO Mon, Thavaseelan K., IAS directed all the Head of Offices (HoOs) of Mon district to submit the list of works which have already started on the ground and list of fresh works which have not started on the ground. This is consequent upon the announcement of General Elections to the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly 2018 by the ECI on 18th January. As per the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) no new work that has not started on the ground can start once the MCC is in force. The DC further stated that the aforesaid list should be submitted on or before 2:00 PM of January 25.
