Nothing like having a technique that works best for oneself. As it sounds practical, Nagaland Board of School Education HSSLC Arts stream topper, Keletsole Mekro from Dainty Buds School, Kohima says her secret is to grasp the most in class by remaining attentive to the teachers.
For Mekro, after grasping the lecture, she then goes to understand the material and after understanding, she “looks at the chapter and explains it on my own words just like I am talking to myself.”
Additionally she says “revision is very important.” As for her, she therefore chooses this technique over a long duration of study. “On an average, I dedicate 5 hours for studying and gradually increase study timing during examination,” she says.
Like many other toppers who do not expect themselves to secure top spot, Mekro herself only expected to come in a rank in top 10.
She says, “I thought I might come up in top 10 but not in the top 1 position.”
A friend called in and surprised me and my mother checked the result gazette to make confirmation,” the HSSLC Arts topper describe how her afternoon went about followed by congratulatory words from different quarters including her teachers.
Obviously God is first, Mekro says as “right from the start I have prayed and I have been praying every single day till today.”
She also attributes her success to her parents, especially her mother, who is a professor by profession, has played a key role in helping her with her academics.
Apart from all this, Mekro says humour in life are essential despite going through major challenges in life. Our class bench mates cracked a lot of jokes which was healthy, she says.
She aims to study psychology in Nagaland itself and follow the family roots of becoming a teacher.
As for this girl she asks people to carry optimism with them by never giving up on oneself. While many may hoped to achieve top position in the exams and didn't make it, Mekro encouraged these people that there are many more other exams to succeed in life and asked people to be sincere and persevere.
