Augmentation water supply to Settsu Village inaugurated

Mokokchung, December 8 (DIPR): Parliamentary Secretary, IPR & SIRD, Imtikumzuk inaugurated augmentation water supply to Ao Settsu Village, about 10 km from Mokokchung on December 8. The augmentation of drinking water supply by installation of Solar Powered water treatment under National Rural Drinking water programme (NRDWP) 2016-2017 has been undertaken by PHED Department, Mokokchung Division at an estimated cost of 50 (Fifty) lakhs. This is the second village after Waromong village to have drinking water supply by installing solar power in Mokokchung district.  

Imtikumzuk said that the entire villagers will now have sufficient drinking water with the installation of automatic solar powered water treatment and he thanked the PHED, Mokokchung division for selecting Ao Settsu village, who had been suffered a lot for want of drinking water in the village. Imtikumzuk appealed to the villagers, particularly the Village Council members to maintain the project properly. The existing gravity water supply from neighboring Longkhum village was not sufficient for the entire Ao Settsu village. With the installation of Solar powered water treatment the villagers will now receive 30 to 40 lpcd.  

Executive Engineer N. Yanger Pongen said that solar powered water treatment can pump upto 15000 litres per day as per availability of water at source and it is eco-friendly. He also said it is high operating life with low maintenance, operating cost and this advance technology can remove impurities like bacteria and suspended organic matters upto 99.99 per cent.  

Earlier, Parliamentary Secretary inaugurated Arkong Ward Community Hall which was constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 27Lakhs.During the inaugural function, Arkong Ward Chairman R. Ayim Longkumer expressed deep gratitude to the Parliamentary Secretary for extending financial assistance under LADP. The chairman also thanked the people of Arkong ward and well wishers for their support and assistance towards construction of the community hall.
