Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao awareness prog

Dimapur, May 23 (MExN): To create awareness on ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’, 9 Assam Rifles organized a programme at Tsiesema Basa village of Kohima district on May 22. The aim of the programme was to educate the local women on the ill effects of female foeticide, importance of education of girl child, and women empowerment through professional education, according to a press release received here. Amardeep Bains, President, Assam Rifles Wives Welfare Association (ARWWA), Hq 5 sector and Meenakshi Tyagi, President, ARWWA, 9 Assam Rifles interacted with the women, young girls, and children of the village. The two women gave information about Government of India’s policies on ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ scheme during the programme. They also assured them medical assistance and any help regarding primary and professional education of girls in the village, the release added.
