Tuensang, March 12 (MExN): The Tuensang district administration and District Level Centre for Women-MSK conducted a medical camp, Aadhaar enrollment and opening of bank account drive at Sotokur village on March 12.

 


Themed ‘Convergence Mela with special focus on adolescent girls’, the drive was conducted in collaboration with the Department of Health and Family Welfare, State Bank of India and Aadhaar Office in a bid to create awareness  on empowerment of girl child in consonance with the Beti Bachao Bedi Padhao scheme, according to the organizers.

 


Kihomong EAC Sotokur and Women Welfare Officer DLCM-MSK Shongmao M took cognizance of the hardships faced by the girl child in the form of sexual harassment, discrimination and deprivation. The scheme, if implemented properly, will help empower the girl child and do away with these problems, they opined.

 


I Moatemjen, CMO Tuensang urged the Sotokur village council for mass community participation for the successful implementation of the scheme.

 


He also encouraged the villagers to avail the services being provided in the medical camp, as well as to open their bank accounts with the help of the team at the mela. A combined team from various departments under Tuensang District also assisted the villagers in the enrollment of names for Aadhaar, medical test and opening of bank account.

 


Aadhaar enrollment and opening of bank account was conducted at the office of Nagaland Legal Service Authority, while medical camp was conducted at Council Hall.
