YouTuber detained under Wildlife Protection Act

DIMAPUR, MAY 16 (MExN): A YouTuber hailing from Zunheboto has been detained by the Wildlife Crime Control Unit, Wildlife Division, Dimapur under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. 

A press release issued by the Wildlife Warden, Dimapur informed that the Wildlife Crime Control Unit, Wildlife Division, Dimapur based on specific inputs from Wildlife Crime Control Bureau, Eastern Region, MoEF & CC summoned Vikuto Swu, aged 28 years, on May 16 with regard to commission of wildlife offence i.e. creating, documenting and sharing the contents of hunting/trapping of wildlife in his YouTube channel namely Sumi Huthuva Vlogs. 

The accused has since been detained by the Wildlife Crime Control Unit for further interrogation and will be dealt with as per relevant section of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, the press release informed. 

Meanwhile, the Wildlife Warden has reminded the general public to refrain from content creating on hunting/trapping, consumption of wild animals and birds in social media. Displaying/sharing any wildlife items through social media platforms is a serious offence and invites punishment under Wild Life Protection Act, 1972, it pointed out.
