A delegation of state Congress legislators will be leaving Imphal for New Delhi on November 13 to meet the Prime Minister and press him to "safeguard the territorial integrity of Manipur."

Informing that the delegation to be led by him will be leaving Imphal for Delhi at a press conference held at his official quarter in Imphal Bapupara, former chief minister O Ibobi said that the Centre giving assurance to safeguard Manipur’s geographical boundary is no more a new thing.

"The Central leaders had given assurances on other issues concerning the state in the past but the assurances were never reflected while taking up actions," Ibobi alleged.

The former chief minister then said that the Centre must not consider any provision that will affect Manipur in any manner even in future. Ibobi added that there is also a strong apprehension of creating 'territorial council,' something like Bodo Territorial Council in Manipur.

He added that the Congress delegation will seek appointment with the Prime Minister and press him not to include any clause for the formation of territorial council or any other autonomous body within the state of Manipur.

"If the Centre agrees to such arrangement then it will amount to having a state within the state and it will sow the seed of disintegration of Manipur’s territorial integrity," the former chief minister said.
