Wokha, November 30 (MExN): Deputy Chief Minister, Y Patton undertook Gandhi Sankalp Yatra on November 29 commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi in Wokha town.
A programme which started from October 2 will culminate in January next year, stated a press release issued by Media Cell, Deputy CMO.
Taking out a rally 'Fit India movement' with supporters and party workers, the Deputy CM walked from Saron colony in Wokha town to Niroyo village. During his visit, he interacted with the villagers and later inaugurated the newly constructed Panchayat Hall.
He acknowledged the Niro Range people and Niroyo villagers in particular for reposing their faith in his leadership.
He also apprised the gathering that the long awaited black topping of road from Wokha Town to N Longidang is in the pipeline and works will start by January 2020.
Since the road construction will be a dream come true project and will be an achievement of his commitment for the people, he urged upon the people of the Range in particular to extend full cooperation to the contractor till the construction of the road was completed.
“There should not be any landowner issue which could hamper the progress of the works. The Range people should stick to the assurance that they've given in their No Objection Certificates for construction of the road as this will benefit the people of the area at large,” Patton urged.
Coinciding the Sankalp Yatra program, Patton also distributed bags of rice to the under privileged people, widows and widowers, destitutes and senior citizens covering twenty villages. Altogether about one thousand beneficiaries were benefitted.
