Eastern Timber Union formed in Jessami

Phek, January 18 (MExN): Eastern Timber Union (ETU) has been formed on January 11 at Jessami, Manipur with the need to cater to the welfare of the timber traders for Kiphire, Pungro, Meluri, Phek, Jessami and Ukhrul.

 


As per a press release received here, the office bearers for ETU will be led by Tsolomo Perias as President, Tsutemew Yimchunger and Chili Apfutir as Vice-Presidents, Kedulhi Wezah as General Secretary, Thronghokiu Yimchunger as Finance Secretary and Sanyi Dukru as Advisor.

 


The Central Executive Members are Tsotewezah, President, Phek District Timber Traders; Benjamin President, Ukhrul District Timber Traders and Shahoto President, Pungro Timber Traders Union.

 


In the first meeting of the Union, the team appreciated the Department of Forest for hearing the grievances of the traders and also thanked President Kevise Angami and Finance Secretary Sanyi Dukru, NTTU for tirelessly working for the welfare of the timber traders. 

 


The ETU maintained that timber traders face maximum taxation from different groups and departments causing huge lose to the traders. It hoped that with this formation, traders from the area will benefit and work together for the welfare of all.
