BJP condemns using govt vehicle for campaign

Dimapur, February 16 (MExN): The Bharatiya Janata Party Nagaland has condemned the “supporters” of NPF 19th Phek A/C for “illegally using a Government registered Police Vehicle (Gypsy) for election campaign in Phek district.” A press statement from BJP Media Cell has appealed to the Election Commission of India to immediately take necessary legal action as per the model code of conduct.  

DC Mkg warns against restricting movement of citizens, candidates

Mokokchung, February 16 (DIPR): Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, Sachin Jaiswal through an order has informed that in view of the upcoming 13th general assembly election, any village council/group in Mokokchung district which restricts free movement of citizens and any contesting candidates in their respective village is against the Article 21 of the Constitution of India and against the Pronouncement of Gauhati High Court (Kohima Bench). Therefore, all the village councils/ organizations/ groups who are indulging in such unconstitutional activities have been warned not to issue such diktats, else strict legal action shall be initiated against them. Further, the village councils indulging in such activities will be recommended for dissolution under Village Council Act.1978 if they do not abide to the order of the Government in this regard, the order added.  

Mokokchung DEO directs

Mokokchung, February 16 (MExN): The District Election Officer of Mokokchung, Sachin Jaiswal, who is also the Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung district, today directed all the political parties and candidates to obtain certification from the district Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC) for “all political and candidates advertisement in both print and electronic media”. The DEO said obtaining of certification from MCMC for the advertisements is as per the directives of the Election Commission of India. “Any political or candidates advertisement published without certification will be considered as electoral malpractices and the cost of the advertisement shall be booked in the account of the election expenditure of the candidate,” said the DEO. He further stated all the state and local print media shall refrain from publishing anything which is against the spirit of free and fair elections and violates the fundamental rights of the citizens.  

DC & DEO Kohima directs vehicle owners, drivers

DIMAPUR, FEBRUARY 16 (MExN): DC and DEO Kohima, Rajesh Soundararajan has directed all owners, drivers of private vehicles/commercial taxi, bus, pick-up trucks under Kohima district whose vehicles have been requisitioned for election duty to report at the local ground, Kohima on February 24 at 8:00 am without fail. The DC also informed all concerned whose vehicles have been requisitioned for election duty and who will be going along with the vehicle for poll duty to apply postal ballot at Postal Ballot Cell, Deputy Commissioner’s office, Kohima before February 20. No further cases for postal ballot will be entertained after the said date.
