Farmers attend State Level Training

Mokokchung, October 25 (MExN): Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Tsaru Block, Tuensang conducted within State Level Training for farmers on October 20 at SARS, Yisemyong, Mokokchung with an aim to boost awareness and expose the farmers to new ideas of agricultural practices.  

The team was lead by Block Technology Manager, Dr. T. Arenmongla and ATM, Moatemsu. During a brief interaction with the farmers, Joint Director, SARS Yisemyong Dr. DK Chetri spoke on organic farming and highlighted the farmers on the concept and importance of organic farming. The farmers were also encouraged for adopting sustainable farming practices; minimize the soil degradation and erosion.  

The team visited the germplasm unit and soil testing laboratory where Marlepzuk, AO and Maongsang, AO explained the techniques how to test the soil before planting any crop at a particular plot of land. The team also visited the trial fields where farmers learned about the nursery raising for the crops, uses of vermicompost and cultivation of various other vegetable crops. Altogether eight progressive farmers from Alisopur village under Tsaru Block attended the State level training programme which was a grant success.
