CTAN demands termination of 8 JEs, 1 prog officer within 30 days

Kohima, May 7 (MExN): The Combined Technical Association of Nagaland (CTAN) today demanded the termination of the services of 8 junior Engineers and 1 programme officer in the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) Nagaland within 30 days.  They are contract appointees and in violation of the Department of Personnel & Administrative Reforms’ office memorandum dated June 6, 2016, which clearly stated that the “appointment of all Ad-hoc/casual/temporary appointments as banned,” the Association reminded the Chief Engineer, PHED in a representation.  As per CTAN, the information about the appointees were obtained via a Right to Information reply dated March 30.

Accordingly, it appealed the Department to send those posts for requisition to the Nagaland Public Service Commission and asserted that the latter must not make excuses of shortage of workforce and practice ‘illegal appointments.’ The NPSC Rule no. 9(4) (State, Civil & other services) clearly states that every Department must send requisition of vacancies likely to arise in the next 12 months, it highlighted. The Department is expected to do the necessary work of giving out proper, timely data on post vacancies, it added.  The CTAN further cautioned if the services of contract 8 JEs and the programme officer is not terminated within the next 30 days, it would disclose the “names of those illegal appointees and take up the issue democratically in whatever way is best suited.”
