Taking cognizance of many complaints of government doctors not working in their areas of posting but practicing in the town of Tura in private clinics, the deputy commissioner of West Garo Hills (WGH), Ram Singh, has asked all those doctors to stop such acts and go back to their areas of posting.

The DC, through an order given on August 9, stated that it had come to the notice of the administration that many doctors posted in other districts, have shunned going to their stations and are practicing in various private clinics in Tura. This apparently is being done without these doctors attending their duties in the places where they are posted.

The order was submitted to the District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) of WGH.

“General public in those places have been facing tremendous difficulties due to shortage of doctors in their respective hospitals,” said the order.

The DC further added that many uncommon diseases are being detected in Garo Hills for which the daily presence of doctors is crucial at hospitals to provide medical treatment for patients.

“Practicing of outside doctors in Tura is adversely affecting the people of other districts,” added Ram Singh.

The DC has asked the DMHO to act on the matter and ensure such practices are stopped by doctors from outside WGH so that they provide services for the people where they have been posted.

The DC also sought an action taken report from the DMHO.
