Hill Theatre screens short film ‘Jarem’

Jarem, a short film adapted and extracted from the story ‘Silent Screams’ in the book ‘Sincerely Yours’ written by Sentilong Ozukum was screened here at Europa Inn, Dimapur today. The film produced by OffOn Films under the aegis of Hill Theatre and directed by Bendang Walling, runs the duration of 23 minutes.   The film, based on a 15-year old boy experiencing troubling nightmares and hallucinations revolves under the theme of rational thinking in the society. A doctor quaintly explains the reason behind the trouble after the father mentions the symptoms, to which a scientific answer leaves the father to ponder upon.   Director Bendang Walling stating that the shooting of the film took almost three weeks attributed the outcome to a team-work of many passionate people in their respective contributions that meted the screening of the film through their pocket money. The film was shot at various places in Dimapur and with the dialects being a mix of both the Jungli and Mongsen Ao dialects along with English sub-titles, he added.   Replying on a query made by the audience on when and where the movie would be made available for the public, he commented that he initially wishes to screen it at regional, national or international film festivals after which he wish to make it available on YouTube after this winter season.   Moa Walling, Chairman M.D MW Enterprise who was present as the special guest stated that films are something that comes out of the soul and displays the talent and voice of the person. He appreciated the team and said that such endeavors are a way to reach the outside world at the same time showcasing our Naga culture and capabilities to the outside world.   Earlier, the dedicatory prayer was pronounced by Associate Pastor, Imnatoshi Longkumer. Several filmmakers from the state also attended the screening.
